Golden Green Initiatives
We believe in giving back and protecting the ecosystems and communities of our unique destinations, the Galapagos Islands and the Amazon rainforest.
Our Golden Green initiatives preserve these destinations so that they will always remain good for their inhabitants and visitors through our conservation projects. Some of these initiatives involve everything from clean-up projects in Santa Cruz Island to energy-saving programs at the lodge.
As for the children and youth community, we promote educational and employment opportunities to improve their quality of life. Some of these initiatives include internet connection in schools on the islands, and in the jungle, we support the youth of the community to share their knowledge of the forest and the culture of the Pilche community.

Amando Galapagos
We have been supporting “Amando a Galapagos” volunteers in the efforts to reduce pollution and plastic waste on Santa Cruz Island. Significant progress has been made, with thirty cleanups conducted to date, removing harmful materials such as microplastics, glass shards, construction waste and plastic bottles.
The initiative focuses on bordering urban areas, crucial habitats for endangered tortoises and diverse bird populations.
Recognizing the need for a long-term solution, the project is being expanded to promote the reduction of plastic consumption in nearby communities, in close collaboration with local authorities.
This collab between Golden Galapagos and the foundation aims to create a lasting positive impact on both the park’s wildlife and the residents living near this protected area. Every week brings new and successful results.

Starlink Antenna Installation for Reliable Internet Access
Golden Galapagos has partnered with Starlink to bring reliable internet access to public schools in the Galapagos Islands. This initiative aims to enhance the educational experience for students by providing them with stable and high-speed internet connectivity.
The Starlink antennas were installed in The Alejandro Alvear School on San Cristobal and The Oswaldo Guayasamin School in Santa Cruz Island. This ensures that students have access to the resources they need to succeed.
Importance of Reliable Internet Access
Reliable internet access is crucial for students nowadays. It enables them to access educational resources, communicate with peers and teachers, and participate in online learning activities.

Mandi Wasi and Mandi Forest

The Mandi Wasi Project is a women-led initiative that aims to empower women in the local community.
The project involves creating handicrafts using materials found in the area and welcoming guests to visit the community and experience their way of life including traditions, lifestyle and food. By participating in the Mandi Wasi Project, these women are able to have a significant impact on their community and provide financial support for their families.
The Mandi Forest is a community-led project run by young men from the Pilche community. It was launched to protect and provide guided tours to the Mandi Cocha lake, which is located within their community.
The community members act as native guides for guests, providing a distinctive and authentic experience while also supporting the local economy and making sure that the lake is both protected and maintained.
Both of these projects promote community tourism, which has a positive impact not only on the community’s economy but also by empowering the actions of each person within it, giving them a path towards a better future.
