GALAPAGOS CONSERVANCY
Galapagos Islands
As a participant in the WISE project launched by the Galapagos Conservancy, we contribute to the growth of women-owned small businesses that are focused on sustainability in the Galapagos. WISE, which stands for Women’s Initiative for Sustainable Enterprises, is a project that offers grants to women entrepreneurs who are committed to creating sustainable solutions for the challenges facing the fragile ecosystem of the Galapagos Islands.
About Galapagos Conservancy:
Founded in 1985, Galapagos Conservancy is the only U.S.-based nonprofit dedicated exclusively to the long-term protection and restoration of the Galapagos Islands and its brilliant mosaic of life, which includes more than 2,000 species found nowhere else on Earth.
Addressing challenges ranging from wildlife extinctions and invasive species to habitat degradation and a changing climate, Galapagos Conservancy is committed to helping the Islands face their greatest ever challenges.

About WISE:
Our partnership with Galapagos Conservancy and WISE directly aligns with our company values and our conservation initiatives.
We recently had the opportunity to have a firsthand experience that allowed us to meet three remarkable women, each spearheading their own sustainable entrepreneurship initiatives, showcasing the tangible impact of the WISE project
We would also like to highlight five of their projects that we believe deserve more attention and are closely relate to our values

Mayra Hernández’s “More art, less garbage” turns plastic waste into art.
This initiative aims to inspire the community to maintain a cleaner environment by encouraging people to reconsider their daily habits that generate waste. she organized 14 workshops that benefited 250 children from Santa Cruz Island, teaching them how to turn plastic waste into art and toys.

Women In Conservation: “Native Gardens”
Mirian Silva’s “Native Gardens” focuses on conserving native and endemic plant species on Santa Cruz Island. In addition to providing plants to local educational institutions, she aims to protect iconic flora by reforesting green areas in schools.
