CHARLES DARWIN FOUNDATION

Galapagos Islands

As part of a unique initiative launched by the renowned Charles Darwin Foundation, Golden Galapagos adopted the endangered Galapagos penguin to help the organization monitor and protect the species from the many different threats that it faces. This research is fundamental to understanding the needs and threats facing the Galapagos penguin.

The Galapagos penguin is a species at immediate risk of population decline that is vital to develop effective conservation strategies to prevent its extinction

An endemic species not found anywhere else on earth, there are only about 600 pairs of Galapagos penguins in the archipelago, all of which face both internal and external threats that constantly put significant pressure on their population.

Both climate change and ever-worsening climate phenomena have a detrimental effect on Galapagos penguins, as do introduced species that have not been fully eradicated from the islands, as well as the foreign illnesses brought by them.

The Charles Darwin Foundation performs critical work with the population of Galapagos penguins in the archipelago, physically checking on them three times per year and tracking important health indicators, in addition to launching eradication programs for introduced species.

By adopting a Galapagos penguin, we’re supporting the efforts being made to protect them!

By sponsoring the Galapagos penguin, we will be able to learn more about the species ecology and the work the Charles Darwin Foundation does to contribute to their protection.

Do not forget to also frequently visit their website and follow them on their social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube) for continuous updates on this project, as well as on numerous other projects that Charles Darwin Foundation are committed to.

Our sponsorship will go towards preserving this unique species and will make a difference for generations to come.
