Fostering Innovation for the Conservation of the Galapagos Islands

Galapagos Conservancy is pleased to highlight the inspiring story of Vanesa del Valle Enrique, a permanent resident of Galapagos who has been leading an innovative project called ARTE Divino since November 2022. With the support of Galapagos Conservancy’s conservation grants, Vanesa transforms discarded materials into works of art that not only beautify the environment but also promote recreation and care for the archipelago.

ARTE Divino focuses on creatively reusing cans, glass jars, cardboard, and fabric scraps and old clothes. Vanesa’s project aims to create an aesthetic and expressive space that inspires the community through painting. By transforming these discarded materials into works of art, Vanesa contributes to a pollution-free environment, while also promoting environmental awareness and appreciation of beauty in Galapagos.

Her initiative not only promotes creative reuse but also educates and empowers the local community to care for and protect the archipelago. Her work is a clear example of how entrepreneurial ideas can make a difference in the conservation of the enchanted islands.
