AMANDO GALAPAGOS

Caring for the Galapagos means taking direct, collective action. Through our collaboration with the local NGO Amando Galápagos, we’ve supported and co-led critical waste management efforts across the islands, preserving biodiversity while fostering community engagement.

In 2024 alone, we participated in 15 coastal clean-up events, removing approximately 4,000 kg of marine debris from fragile ecosystems.

These clean-ups focused on urban-border areas, home to endangered species like Galápagos tortoises and native bird populations. Volunteers and staff removed harmful waste such as microplastics, plastic bottles, glass shards, and construction debris, helping restore balance to these sensitive environments.

In Santa Cruz, we helped design and implement a waste collection and management system, providing staff, logistics, and environmental education sessions to encourage local participation. The project not only protects the environment but also supports job creation and circular economy practices, instilling long-term environmental stewardship within the community.

As the program grows, we’re expanding its scope to address plastic reduction at the source, working with local authorities and residents to promote behavioral change and sustainable alternatives.

Amando Galápagos reflects our core values: connecting tourism to real impact, supporting local leadership, and protecting the places that make each journey with us extraordinary.
